Conservation Accomplishments

Today, the Douglas Land Conservancy has a conservation endowment of $300,000 with responsibility for conservation easements on more than 12,000 acreas of permanently preserved open space.

The average size of a parcel held by the Conservancy is 340 acres. Every parcel in the Conservancy portfolio contributes to the quality of life in our community by serving social, cultural, ecological and environmental needs as well as landowner interests.

Some of the parcels held by the Douglas Land Conservancy are designated for public use. Others are simply preserved by the land owner but still privately held and maintained.

In cooperation with local government, community leaders and land owners, we have managed to permanently secure critical open space in one of the fast growing regions in the country.
